A.R.T. produced Fresno’s debut of The Rocky Horror Show
in 2008, a critically acclaimed and popular show
that sold out 8 of their 12 performances. In 2012, the show was revived for Fresno audiences, who embraced
the electrifying event with open arms. The Fresno Bee’s Donald Munro called the show a “vibrant new
production” and “a stellar experience.” Audiences can expect some familiarity, and some surprises, with this
year’s production, which features an all new “floor show”; Director Daniel Chavez Jr., who’s toured Italy and
the U.S. in West Side Story and Kiss Me, Kate; a talented cast of performers – some new, and some veteran;
and the brand new Music Director, Katie Steinhauer. Steinhauer, who has toured the U.K. and performed with
Carnival Cruises, is sure to bring a fresh new energy to the thrilling classic. One thing certainly hasn’t
changed: this show rocks – more and more each year!
The Rocky Horror Show
is certain to appeal to a multi-generational audience. The 1975 film (starring Susan
Sarandon & Tim Curry) emerged as a campy favorite and gained an international cult following throughout the
‘70s and ‘80s. The musical also established a younger audience with the Broadway revival in the early ‘00s.
Artists’ Repertory Theatre was formed in 2006. From their first production of Ken Kesey’s One Flew Over the
Cuckoo’s Nest to their recent staging of Michael J. Peterson’s The They
at the Rogue Performance Festival,
they have received critical acclaim and popular support from Central Valley theatergoers.
