Smugglers Inn Open Mic:
One of the finest restaurant night spots in the history of Fresno has
live entertainment again. On Thursdays from 6 to 9 PM Guitarist Singer
Songwriter Steve Ono is hosting the Smugglers Open Mic Night.
The Smuggler’s lounge is like a large living room with a small PA set
up in the corner. Listening will be encouraged. Musicians, singers and
spoken word are all welcome. The content must be family friendly. Each
guest artist will be playing 2 to 3 songs depending on the number of
participants. Minors are allowed when accompanied by a responsible
adult. Steve will play back up guitar or read sheet music (lead
sheets preferred) for the artists on request. Steve Ono has been
playing and teaching guitar in the Fresno/Clovis area for more than 35
years with hundreds of former students.
The Smuggler’s at the Park Inn is a full service restaurant with a
full bar. There is a two drink minimum. Dinner is available.

The kind that stick with you and add a bit more substance to what they are doing. The gritty guitar stabs are the exclamation point of this Fresno based band. Apr 12 Concert for a Cause An evening of music to benefit Westside Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the care of homeless dogs & the dignity of those who own them. Performers include: Steve Ono, Lisa Vincent with Brian Finley and Acoustic Highway. No host bar and raffle for fabulous prizes. Hear good music, mix and mingle, and learn about the good work Westside Rescue does for the community. This concert is to promote the April campaign to educate about the importance of, and to assist owners in paying for neutering of pit bulls. 7:00pm concert, doors open at 6:30pm. $10.00, with all proceeds going to Westside Rescue.
Apr 18 3rd Thursday Open Mic Bring an instrument or your poetry to Frank’s Place and present a couple of songs poems. You can even jam with host Steve Ono. If you would like an audio recording bring a blank CD-R if you would like video bring up to three SD cards and friends to operate the cameras. 8PM start sign up at 7:30PM

Apr 26 Dan Navarro Claudia Russell Boxcar Figaro 8PM All Ages Dan Navarro is a singer songwriter voice actor and activist. His songs have been played by Pat Benatar (the Grammy-nominated “We Belong”) , The Bangles, Jackson Browne, Keb’ Mo’, Dave Edmunds, The Temptations, Dionne Warwick and many more. His studio work includes recordings with Neil Young, Andrea Bocelli, Luis Miguel, Jose Feliciano and Susanna Hoffs.
Making her second Fresno Folk Society appearance, Claudia Russell is an award-winning singer/songwriter named Best Musician in the 2006 East Bay Express Reader’s Poll and Best New Artist by Boston Radio station WUMB. Accompanied by her husband Bruce Kaplan on mandolin and guitar, Russell plays an eclectic blend of folk woven from blues, country, pop, western swing and traditional music to form a unique and compelling sound.
