Basketball Camp for Beginners
The City of Sanger Parks & Recreation Division is hosting a Beginners Basketball Camp at the Community Center (730 Recreation Ave) from Tuesday, December 27 – Friday, December 30. This instructional and educational program is for boys and girls ages 4 – 13 of all ability levels but will focus on all the basketball basics. Everything from the lines on the court, to proper nutrition, to teamwork and sportsmanship will be covered. Classes will be split up into age appropriate divisions: 4pm, 5:30pm, & 7pm. Each class will go for approximately 90 minutes each day. The fee is only $20 (a second sibling is only $10, and a 3rd sibling is free)! Contact Michael Flores at 831-521-3558 for more details. Aerobics Fall Schedule
The City of Sanger Parks & Recreation Division offers an Aerobics class for men and women ages 18 & older. This program runs year round but you can just register on a month to month basis. It is only $10 per month for classes that meet on Monday’s, Wednesday’s & Thursday’s from 6 – 7pm. This class aims to improve all elements of exercise: cardiovascular fitness, strength training, and flexibility. Sessions begin on the first full week of each month. All classes are held at the Sanger Community Center (730 Recreation Plaza). You can register in the Recreation Office (new location at City Hall, 1700 Seventh Street) or on site with the instructor, Anita Golding. Photography Classes with Brent Russell Paull
The Sanger Parks and Recreation Division presents a special opportunity for photography enthusiasts in the Sanger area. You can now register for the next round of photography classes hosted by professional photographer Brent Russell Paull. These opportunities are only $25 each! A camera nor laptop/tablet is not needed but if you have them make sure to bring it!
The “Beginning Digital Photography” seminar is on Tuesday, February 7 from 6 – 8pm in the Sanger Community Center (730 Recreation Ave). You will learn about lighting, composition, camera accessories, and how to use your own camera to its full potential. Whether you have a point-and-shoot camera or a D-SLR, this seminar will improve your photography skills and help you in creating beautiful photographs.
The “Process Digital Images with Photoshop Elements 9” seminar is on Tuesday, February 21 from 6 – 8pm in the Sanger Community Center (730 Recreation Ave). Adobe Elements is one of the world’s most popular image editing programs. This seminar will walk you through the steps involved to correctly process your images. Learn how to do simple retouching, improve color and sharpness, and prepare them for the web, email or for printing.

Kiwanis Youth Basketball
The City of Sanger Parks & Recreation Division is continuing to accept registrations for the upcoming Kiwanis Youth Basketball League. This is a competitive basketball league for boys and girls ages 6 – 14 (1st – 8th grade) that places an emphasis on recreation principles such as teamwork, good sportsmanship, positive self esteem, and having fun! The cost is only $30 per player if registered in December, and $35 in January. Practices start in December and depending on the age group the games will be at the Sanger Community Center on Thursday or Friday nights or Saturday mornings from mid- January through the beginning of March. Blossom Trail Run
The City of Sanger Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce that the 15th Annual Blossom Trail Run will return on Saturday, March 3, 2012. There are a wide variety of race options for anyone of all walks of life: ages 2 through 75+. Discounted early registration will be available online soon.
As always we need volunteers to help with the event and there are opportunities for donors and sponsors as well. More information will be available in January. The City of Sanger Parks & Recreation Department reminds the community that there are many beautiful park spaces available to reserve for birthday parties, baby showers, or any other family gatherings. Most picnic areas are only $15! Spots are available on a first come first serve basis. You make rent up to a year in advance.
