Starting its second season May 6 (PBS) is the BBC’s Sherlock. The three new episodes will be reworks of the classics: “A Scandal in Bohemia” (Irene Adler with nudity and laptops), “The Hound of the Baskervilles” (a 20 year disappearance…a monstrous hound…I wouldn’t have missed this for the world) and “The Final Problem.”

One of the first things you notice when you meet Ta-Raw Hamilton, otherwise known as “Chef Hamilton,” is passion. Ta-Raw is passionate about food, health, and life! She is passionate about ideas and building dreams. That is evident in her approach to everything she and her family do. The culinary team of Tara, Rachel, Kyal, and Ariana Hamilton are at the heart of Revive Cafe and Organic Fresno.

This week we have an original mystery short story by author Diana Hockley from Australia (hence the more European spelling you may notice below). And within this story is a treat for those of us who love our pet rats.

Happy Earth Day, my fellow Earthlings! Not to leave out aliens living here on Earth, nor to presume the internet doesn’t reach outer space, it’s simply probable that visitors to Earth are nicer to our planet than we home-grown inhabitants.

The Stephen Sondheim musical Assassins is coming to Fresno State next week so I thought it would be fun to take a look at this unusual musical which some say is possibly the most controversial musical ever written—that statement alone makes me want to see it!

That’s right, Pinocchio is playing at the Enchanted Playhouse through May 12, and it’s a combination of the Carlo Collodi original and original elements written by John Marley. It’s not quite the same as the Disney version, but you will hear “When You Wish Upon a Star”…several times. Of course, you will also hear Cole Porter and Styne & Sondheim, and some classical music.

Before you go see The Hobbit movie coming out later this year, why not check out the play now on stage at the College of The Sequoias in Visalia. I went this weekend with friends and it was a lot of fun. It’s the kind of show you can take the family to for a fun night out, while helping to support the school’s theatre program at the same time.

This past weekend Godspell opened at the Reedley Opera House presented by the Reedley River City Theatre Co. and I had the privilege of actually seeing it twice! This may very well be the best show I’ve ever seen there, and it’s one you won’t want to miss. For a little background, music and lyrics for this show were written by Stephen Schwartz who wrote Wicked.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is currently on stage at Roger Rocka’s in Fresno and it’s a night of rollicking fun. If you have ever seen the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels movie staring Steve Martin and Michael Caine you know the general story of the musical.
