I have been volunteering at Feral Paws Rescue for a few years, and I have an area where cats are housed that I, personally, take care of. One day in mid-June of this year, I noticed a new addition to my area, a beautiful large chocolate-point Siamese. She had just been pulled from the CCSPCA (Fresno) along with a few others. She was talking to me the entire time I was in my area feeding the others and cleaning their kennels; when I got around to her, she wanted to be petted and to get her dish of wet food. Over the summer she became my greeter every time I went to the Rescue to take care of my area. She is about two years old and I named her Thai, as there was no name noted for her on the shelter paperwork, although it was assumed she was an owner surrender.

Feral Paws Rescue had scheduled an adoption event in downtown Fresno for the end of August and since Thai is such a beautiful Siamese, we took her to the event, along with other adult cats and kittens. Thai is basically shy, and didn’t quite know what to make of all the people around her that evening, so she primarily stayed on top of a cat tree, where people could pass by and pet her. She loved all the attention! I stayed near her through the event and many people commented on how pretty she is. feral paws

Thai didn’t find her forever home that night and I decided to bring her home to foster her. That way she could be among other cats and become a little less shy since she would be getting a lot of attention, and could roam freely around my house. She has acclimated well to her new surroundings, and has gotten along with the other cats I have here, most of whom are black. Thai loves to sleep on the bed at night, as long as she can be next to me and there is no one else sharing my pillow or is too close to her. She also loves to be held, and will often get on my lap while I am sitting at the computer. Sometimes she gets on the desk and watches me work, or sits on a nearby table to look out the window. Occasionally a fly or two will get inside, and it is Thai who tries to catch them, while some of my other cats couldn’t be bothered. Thai loves a certain large cat tree, and wants her dishes of dry food and water on one of the tiers. She also likes to be served her dish of wet food there; although she mingles with the others, she does not eat with them. I think she knows she is special and is asserting her privilege to get special treatment! feral paws

Thai is still available for adoption through Feral Paws Rescue, and would make an excellent pet for someone who wants a totally loving, gentle cat who can have their human’s undivided attention. And Thai will give you plenty of love and purrs in return!

Next Cat Adoption Event is Saturday, November 17th, 11a to 4p at Tractor Supply, 1630 Herndon Avenue, Clovis CA
