Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted is the third movie about a lion named Alex (Ben Stiller) and his friends who in the previous movies broke out of the zoo and went to Africa. It starts out with Alex having a bad dream about all of them becoming old in Africa, which spurs him on to get back home to New York City to the Central Park Zoo which he finds himself homesick for.

Alex and his friends Marty, Melman, Julien and Gloria go to Monte Carlo where their friends the penguins and two chimpanzees have been winning big in the casinos. His hopes are for the penguins to fly them back home. They end up wreaking havoc at the casino drawing attention to themselves, which leads the animal control officers led by Captain Chantel DuBois to start chasing them. However, Dubois’ real goal is to have Alex’s head as a trophy on her wall and she follows the animals all the way to New York in her attempts to capture the lion.

Alex and his friends escape by joining a failing Circus hoping to head to New York City. Through many adventures and failures they become friends with the Circus animals and help them become a successful Circus again. Alex and his friends finally find themselves back home in New York City at the Central Park Zoo but discover it’s not how they remembered it and they don’t want to go back. They long to be able to seek new adventures with their new friends in the Circus. Some of them even find romance along the way and are not ready to give that up.

Madagascar 3 is a fun movie to take the kids to. The theater was full of the laughter of young children including my three-year-old daughter. The movie stays very active and is full of bright fun colors to draw in even the youngest of audiences. The animation is very well done and I believe the kids love to see all the variety of animals throughout the movie. It’s a movie that can stand alone, so you don’t have to see the first two to enjoy this one. School is out and the summer has begun so why not start if off with a fun movie your kids are sure to love.

Check out the movie website for trailers.
Madagascar 3 is now playing at Dinuba Platinum Theatres 6. Showtimes can be found on their website.
