The mystery drama Instinct, starring Alan Cumming, premiered on CBS last year and we reviewed it here in KRL! I love this show and was excited to hear that it was finally coming back on June 30 for a second season! Considering the fact that June is Pride month, it is a very appropriate time for the show to come back as Cumming’s character happens to be the first openly gay male lead character in a broadcast drama on CBS! mystery tv alan cumming

Another bonus for us locally is that one of the stars of the show is Sharon Leal, formerly from Fresno! We interviewed her when we originally reviewed the show, and had the chance to sit down with her again to chat with her about the new season!

Interview with Sharon Leal from Instinct:

KRL: I understand that a second season is finally coming for Instinct in June, when did you film the season?

Sharon: We started filming mid July 2018 and wrapped early December of 2018.

KRL: How long does it take to film an episode?

Sharon: It takes us just under two weeks.

KRL: Is there anything different about this new season that you can share?

Sharon: We introduce a new detective in from a district in Nebraska, who comes in to help out with a big serial killer case that the team is focused on for most of the season. This new detective is played by Travis Van Winkle. We also get to know more of the supporting characters a bit more and get to explore more of the rapport within the precinct along with some great milestone moments for Dylan & Lizzie.

KRL: Anything new happening with your character?

Sharon: When you see Jasmine at the beginning of the season, she’s having some personal issues needing immediate attention. Throughout the season, she’s in this, high pressure, executive position of directing the team to solve the Sleeping Beauty Case. She’s getting a lot of pressure from her superiors.

KRL: Are you excited to be back playing Lt. Jasmine Gooden?

Sharon: Yes! I always get incredibly excited for the second season of shows after the world is established and the audience has had the chance to become familiar with all the characters so the writers can really expand.

KRL: Do you know how many episodes there will be this season?

Sharon: There are eleven episodes in Season 2.

KRL: Anything else you would like to add?

Sharon: Excited to air. The fans have been so enthusiastic and supportive. We’ve been away for a bit so I’m so happy to be hitting the air very soon! sharon leal

KRL: Any other projects coming up?

Sharon: You can catch me on more episodes of The Good Doctor, a new show on NBC – Council of Dads which was just picked up to series and a film called Blindfire, starring Brian Geraghty, myself and Bethany Joy Lenz.

Thanks so much for chatting with us. I can’t wait for the new season!
