In the third adventure by Elaine Faber, an SUV flips over and Thumper’s owner is rushed to the hospital. He has no memory of his former life but a cat named Angel appears to lead him home. The owner of a vineyard and emu farm is facing foreclosure but gives them shelter. Angel is on a mission to help the family and puts one of her nine lives at risk.

It’s a Cold Trail when Oakland PI Jeri Howard finds out her brother has been missing for four days. Her investigation takes her to Sonoma County where she finds cracks in his marriage and at his job. When a body with is MedicAlert bracelet is uncovered in a boat, he becomes a murder suspect. This is the 11th in Janet Dawson’s series.

bookMargaret Grace helps us see everything on a small scale through her miniatures series. Manhattan In Miniature, her eighth offering, has Gerry Porter and granddaughter Maddy visiting the city for a huge craft fair. But a murderer is intent on making sure they don’t get home to the Golden State.

In the seventh Chase Dagger mystery by Lee Driver, a series of murders occur that recall the MO of another killer. He died a fiery death—or did he? Mystery, horror and urban fantasy come together at Nightfall.

Carleigh Warner is another interior decorator tasked to refurbish a Charleston, SC, mansion. The plantation house hides a history of slavery, violence and greed. The ghost of a former slave haunts the home and disapproves of changes. The current owners, the Peppernell family, have secrets that end in murder. The Ghost of Peppernell Manor by Amy Reade will give you shivers.
