The 2016 Rogue Festival is almost here. KRL has been featuring several Festival performer preview articles over the last couple of weeks, and have a few more to go between now and opening day. A couple of weeks ago, we also published an article about the Festival itself. We will also be reviewing many of the shows once the Festival begins later this week, and we may even do some more video interviews. Check out our Rogue Performer event page for more information as it becomes available, and you can also check out the Rogue 2016 website.

YES! – We’re back in the Rogue Festival yet again, after a year of varied and interesting stops in the Fresno community. We have some new talent in the band and lots of new material, and we are very excited to see people come out to enjoy our music.

“I don’t know how many years we’ve been performing in the Rogue, but it is definitely a great experience for both performers and the audience, and really special in a way that elevates Fresno’s performing arts,” comments Woody Moise, a longtime member of the band.rogue

If you saw us last year, you heard original acoustic style Americana, calypso, and reggae tunes mostly written and arranged for the 2015 Rogue shows emphasizing both instrumental improvisation and vocal harmonies. This year, we are playing electric music: new music venturing into uncharted territory with a variety of originals loosely categorized in the rock, reggae, country, and R&B genres, all with our own unpredictable flair. We also hope to have a surprise guest or two. (And all in 45 minutes!)

“So, I just recently joined the band,” said Scott Mohney, keyboard player and singer. “They told me: ‘This year we’re taking the songbook and playlists and tossing them out the window – we’re traveling without a map.’ I wasn’t sure where that would take us, but as we are working up the material, it’s shaping up to be a fun ride, thematically and musically.”

Jeff Single adds: “One reason we chose and kept the name “The Excursions” is that we like to try to work with the motif of travel – travel through places, spaces, time, life, love, and the meaning of our existence. Our Rogue show reflects this theme.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard a band play such a diverse and eclectic variety of music – and do it all so well” – Greg Rude, Chicago blues musician

Come join us on one of our Rogue flights! We’ll be performing at: Fulton Street Arts, 1118 Fulton Street, (next to Veni Vidi Vici in the heart of the Fresno’s Tower District).
