The Rogue Festival hits Fresno again from February 28 – March 9, and you can expect a lot of coverage before & during Rogue from KRL this year–maybe even some videos this time! Our second Rogue article comes from one of this year’s festival performers. The festival is still working on the website for this year, so keep checking back! Our first article was about The Excursions Rock band performing at Rogue this year.

There is a saying “You have to kiss a few toads before you meet your prince charming.” I can attest to its truth. Almost everyone has had a “toad” in their life, but don’t feel bad if haven’t. I likely took yours and am not the least bit sorry. Even though making fun of myself is the mainstay of my comedy, I find almost nothing more rewarding than making fun of my ex and the other men I’ve dated.

I wrote Act 2: Miss Your Ex? Reload and Fire Again! to delve into the humorous side of relationships and break ups. Unlike last year when I interviewed people and used their stories as the basis for my comedy, this year I delve into the comedy of some of my own relationship faux pas; i.e. letting my ex give a toast at my wedding. Truth be told, maybe inviting him to the wedding in the first place wasn’t my wisest move.

Comics in the last century have made fun of their spouse, marriage and exes. Henny Youngman’s “Take my wife, please.” is a classic example. In this show mixed with my own irreverent take on exes and relationships, I include relevant quotes from the famous and the not so famous. Interspersed with both are statistics about divorce and relationships; i.e. the Hollywood celebrity with the most divorces, and other interesting facts about marriage and divorce.

I’ve been performing standup comedy at clubs across the United State for over eight years. Act 2: Miss Your Ex? Reload and Fire Again is the second one-woman standup comedy show I’ve performed at the Rogue Festival. I also did two different shows at the Brighton, England and Edinburgh, Scotland Fringe Festivals. I’ve done standup up comedy in clubs from coast to coast including The Comedy Store-Hollywood and The Punchline-San Francisco. In 2013, I was winner of the “Battle of the Sexes” and “Go Babe Production’s Winner Take All” comedy competitions.

  1. One thing that doesn’t miss is Sandra Rissers’ jokes. She shoots from the hip and always hits the target, your funny bone! I’ve seen her perform many times and will attend the festival if at all possible. Have a great festival you guys.
