They May “Resort to Murder”!
In 2017 Iced by Avery Daniels, a personal favorite, was introduced. Fans were introduced to Julienne LaMere, an event coordinator and manager-in-training at an upscale Colorado Springs resort. Unfortunately, she finds herself on the bad end of a #MeToo experience with a renowned celebrity pastor, and her brilliant “knee” defense only puts her at the top of a short suspect list when he’s found impaled by a pointy ice sculpture. After garnering rave four/five star reviews, Avery followed up with Nailed in 2018 that also garnered high praise. Julienne is thrilled about going to a management conference at a prestigious ski resort in Vail, but a major snowstorm hits stranding guest, and an obnoxious guest is found murdered…not again!

Spiked: A Resort to Murder earns 5/5 Bridal Bouquets…Clever and Engaging!

mysteryWhat’s the worse thing to happen to a romance-challenged event planner? Well, being told by her boss that she’s planning the “happy” day for someone else! Julienne LeMere, resort management trainee for an upscale Colorado Springs resort, is assigned to manage the plans for a large-scale wedding including the rehearsal, dinner, wedding, and reception. Although it’s the bride’s special day, her soon-to-be father-in-law is definitely in charge. Add the bride’s deliciously handsome brother to the festivities, and Julienne knows this is “Trouble with a capital T,” but it turns out more like “Murder with a capital M.” Julienne’s nemesis, Detective Lawrence, growls that a driver, who caused a major road accident, had been poisoned, and Julienne’s name was found in his pocket. The detective’s not thrilled at her connection, she’s not thrilled at his innuendo, and no one’s thrilled the resort is linked to another murder. This time Chad, her often cantankerous and demanding boss, encourages her to investigate and clear the resort of any complicity…that’s a first!

What a way to start off! Avery Daniels has penned a very engaging third book with the murder victim as a private investigator who pushes the envelope to uncover cold and current secrets with his stalking and telephoto lens. So, of course, everyone has Karma-worthy secrets putting them on a suspect list involving several lines of questioning and lots of twist and turns. Avery’s writing style includes a first-person perspective which lays out well the clever plot through sharing Julienne’s inner thoughts and painted with vivid descriptions. Quite the page-turner keeping the “I didn’t see that coming!” ending to the…end. Newbies can easily join here since there are enough references to background and character connections, even though a few ongoing issues come to temporary resolutions. Readers are entertained with wedding prep, hotel issues, personal ups and downs along with a plethora of rich characters supporting Julienne’s amateur investigations, not-so-smooth romantic entanglements, and some perilous moments. Julienne is proving to be a favorite “cozy” character. However, don’t miss out going back and enjoying Iced and Nailed…Alert! Arrowed is next to be the next released.
