If you love scandal, drama, and pretty girls, you will love Pretty Little Liars. The TV show is based on Sara Shepard’s bestselling eight-book series. I have never been more entranced in a show before. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. The storyline is unique. It is not just a typical teenybopper show where the girls giggle and fight over boys. The girls are actually deep and unique. I did not know what it was about before I watched it. I thought it was just about scandalous young women who told a few white lies. but it is nothing like that.

They were all best friends until one night they decided to have a sleepover in a barn near one of the girls’ houses. One of them goes missing and this tragic event tears them apart. One moves away, one changes her look, and the others just change. A year goes by and the girls band together when the cops discover their missing friend’s body. They all, after the funeral, receive texts from someone claiming to be their now dead friend. How can this be? Is someone pretending to be their friend or is she actually alive?

The five friends are Spencer Hastings (Troian Avery Bellisario), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), Ari Montgomery (Lucy Hale), Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell), and the missing one, Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse). They are all incredible actors who convey the emotions of these characters perfectly. Watch this show not only for the pretty girls but also for the intoxicating storyline. Pretty Little Liars returns on ABC Family Monday January 3 at 8 p.m.

If you haven’t seen the previous episodes they are now all available for a limited time on the ABC Family website. There are also several interviews and special videos on the site.
